A fitting tribute to one of the 20th century's best crooners.Nov 13, 2007

This superb compilation of Mr. Rawls' Philadelphia International and Capitol recordings is a fine tribute to one of the greatest crooners ever. The booklet has both a very insightful and revealing essay and is replete with photos from the various phases of Lou's career. The icing on the cake, however, is the superb sound quality on all tracks and the obvious care and attention to detail which the people at Sony Legacy Recordings applied to this package's creation. To paraphrase the title of a song Lou recorded on his "All Things In Time" CD: THESE SONGS WILL LAST FOREVER!!!

Lou Rawls is one of the most legendary soul singers of all time. With his husky sultry voice, Lou delighted fans for decades with his music. Legacy Recordings has released a two disc CD titled "The Essential Lou Rawls." The two disc set includes 33 of Lou's classic hits. Songs featured on the compilation include "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine," "Groovy People," "Tobacco Road," and "Lady Love" among other Lou Rawls classics. The songs were produced by Gamble and Huff for the most part. The music sounds crisp and clear on the re-mastered CD's. The two disc release not only includes Lou's biggest hits but an insert which features photos and an essay. It's a stand out release and its clear the record label put a great deal of effort into this Lou Rawls compilation.

This album has fast become one of my favorites. It really takes me back to my youth and Lou's voice is so easy on the ears. I had an LP and never updated to a cd until now, and forgot how much I loved the whole album. There's some very old phrases from the 70's in some lyrics, and oh so fun to hear again! The jazz R&B sounds with a little disco feel is alot of fun. It'll make you smile!

Once you have heard the sounds of the great Lou Rawls you will be hooked ! This is a bouble album of his greatest hit and my wife loved it . This was a Valentine gift that she will injoy for years. Lou and his sound will never be out dated for love songs." A ond of a kind voice " !!!!!!

This CD is great. It really highlights the smooth voice of one of the greatest singers of all time as well as some of his greatest songs.
